What Blade To Cut Quartz Countertop

What Blade To Cut Quartz Countertop

Cutting quartz countertops requires a special saw blade because quartz is hard (about 7 on the Mohs scale) and has strong wear resistance. Ordinary saw blades cannot cut effectively at all and are very easy to wear.
The following are the main types of saw blades specifically used for cutting quartz countertops:

Diamond saw blades:

Diamond saw blades. The cutting edge of the saw blade is embedded with industrial diamond particles. Diamond is the hardest substance in nature and is enough to grind quartz.

Continuous sintered diamond saw blade

Continuous sintered diamond saw blade:
The saw blade head forms a continuous, uninterrupted ring with no obvious sawtooth gaps.

This is the most suitable saw blade for cutting quartz countertops. With this saw blade, the cutting surface is extremely smooth, without cracks, and the cutting edge is reduced. And the cutting is very stable, with less vibration and noise. So it is extremely suitable for cutting countertops
The disadvantage is that the cutting speed is relatively slow, the heat dissipation is not as good as the segmented saw blade, and wet cutting is required. Otherwise, the saw blade may burn and the quartz countertop may be damaged.

Cutting equipment

  • Bridge saw/table saw: mainly use continuous edge wet slicing.
  • Angle grinder: can only be used for small diameters, 4, 4.5, 5 inches
  • Marble machine: commonly used 7-10 inch saw blades
  • Must add water for wet cutting
