Tools for cutting granite countertop
- Diamond saw blades
Granite has a Mohs hardness of 6-7, and ordinary carbon steel tools are easy to wear and inefficient. Diamond saw blades can stably cut hard materials such as granite and marble with their super-hard particle coating. For example:
Dry cutting saw blades: suitable for outdoor operations without cooling conditions, and the special heat dissipation slot design can reduce dust accumulation.
Wet cutting saw blades: used with a water cooling system, the cutting surface is smoother and the life is extended by 3 times.
- Cutting machine selection
Angle grinder: portable and flexible, suitable for small area trimming
Bridge cutting machine: precise control of straight line cutting
Handheld electric saw: suitable for fast splitting of heavy plates

How to cut granite countertops efficiently
1: Use a waterproof marker with a metal ruler to mark the cutting line, and pay attention to leaving an installation gap (generally 2-3 mm). If it is a complex shape, you can print a 1:1 drawing and paste it on the stone surface.
2: Recommended speed of angle grinder: 8000-10000 RPM
3: Feed speed of bridge cutter: 20-40cm/min (adjusted according to thickness)
4: Push the cutter steadily at a 30° angle to form a guide groove by 2-3mm, turn to a vertical angle and slowly push the cut. Keep a constant speed and do not use too much force.
5: After completing a cut, you can gently push the blade along the cut several times to ensure the depth and straightness of the cut.
Polished cut granite countertop edge
Use the angle grinder diamond flap disc to grind the cut edge to remove burrs and make the cut smooth
If polishing is required, use coarse, medium and fine sandpaper (60, 200, 400 mesh) in turn, and finally polish with stone polishing paste and soft clot.
